Deep within the caves of Richtersveld, South Africa, the Grootslang is said to dwell — a colossal beast with the body of a serpent and the head of an elephant. Born of greed and fury, this ancient cryptid is rumored to guard hoards of diamonds beneath the earth.

Legends say the gods tried to split its power between two creatures — snake and elephant — but one Grootslang escaped their design. It now lingers in shadowed caverns, emerging only when disturbed or enraged.

Some believe it still slithers through the dark gorges, a monstrous blend of muscle and tusk, dragging treasures — and the unlucky — into the deep.
