THE HORSE-HEADED TRICKSTER OF THE PHILIPPINES.
Lurking in the forests and mountain passes of the Philippines, the Tikbalang is a towering figure with the head and hooves of a horse and the body of a man. Mischievous and malevolent, it’s said to lead travelers in endless circles or strike fear with its sudden appearances.
Often invisible, it’s blamed for the eerie feeling of being watched in the woods — or worse, getting hopelessly lost on a familiar trail. Some stories say it can be tamed, but only by outwitting it and stealing one of its enchanted hairs.
The Tikbalang is part demon, part guardian, and entirely part of the rich and fearsome folklore of the islands. If you're walking alone in the trees... don’t trust the path.
When the trail loops back on itself — the Tikbalang has noticed you.
